Xiaomi has launched the Mi6X smartphone in China at an event at Wuhan University, the alma mater of CEO Lei Jun. This Mi6X eventually going to launch in India as MiA2 under Google’s Android One program with Stock Android UI. The Mi6X smartphone looks pretty much identical to Redmi Note 5 pro, the main high light of the smartphone is an AI-based camera and AI-based text translation. Xiaomi MiA1 has gone out of stock already and expected to launch soon in India. The Mi 6X/ Mi A2 is also the second smartphone by the company to come pre-installed with the new Xiao AI.
Xiaomi Mi6X (MiA2) Specification and features
Xiaomi Mi 6X has a 5.99-inch 2160×1080 FHD+, 403 PPI, 1500:1 Contrast display with 18:9 aspect ratio and narrow bezels on the sides, and looks quite similar to the Redmi Note 5 Pro. Mi6X is powered by Octa Core Snapdragon 660 SoC (four 2.2GHz Kyro 260 cores + four 1.8GHz Kyro 260 cores) and Adreno 512 GPU, coupled with 4 GB/6GB RAM and 64 GB/128 GB internal storage eMMC 5.1 respectively. Camera – It has a Dual-rear camera, primary 12MP, SONY IMX486, 1.25um large pixels, f/1.75 large aperture, Secondary 20MP, SONY IMX376, 4 in 1 2.0um large pixels, f/1.75 large aperture, On the front it has 20MP, SONY IMX376, 4 in 1 2.0um large pixels.
The highlight of the smartphone is the cameras, which feature AI integration for improved photos. On both the back and front, there is AI Scene Recognition for better colours in the photos, as well as portrait mode. Other AI-based features in the phone include AI Background Bokeh, AI Smart Beauty 4.0, AI currency conversion, etc. The Mi 6X also has an AI-powered translation and can convert text from Chinese languages to English, French, German, Spanish, Japanese, Korean and Indian languages.
Connectivity – 4G LTE, dual-band Wi-Fi a/b/g/n/ac, Wi-Fi Direct, Miracast, Bluetooth 5.0, IR emitter, USB Type-C port, However, Xiaomi this time excluded the 3.5 mm headphone jack for some reason. The Mi6X supports face unlock feature as well fingerprint scanner at the back. Sensors including – accelerometer, ambient light sensor, gyroscope, proximity sensor. It has an all-metal body, dual speakers on the bottom, and comes in five colour options — Red, Gold, Rose Gold, Blue, and Black. Mi6X has 3010 mAh Battery and it supports Quick Charge 3.0 which offers 50 percent charge in 30 minutes. The smartphone measures 158.7×75.4×7.3mm in thickness and weights 168 grams.
Currently, its available in three memory variant in China, 4 GB RAM/ 64 GB Storage priced at CNY 1,599 (Approx – Rs. 16,900) and 6 GB RAM / 64 GB Storage priced at CNY 1,799 (Approx – Rs. 19,000) while 6 GB RAM / 128 GB Storage priced at CNY 1,999 (Approx – Rs. 21,000). Mi6X will go on sale in China starting 10am local time on Friday, April 27.
